Starting niche
A somewhat common notion, mentioned in a recent edition about how a company raised significant money without being profitable, is the advice to start more niche than one may initially think.
This is something Peter Levels writes about in Bootstrappers Manual. He applies the logic that more advanced companies are less focused on capturing these smaller markets. He then writes about expanding to adjacent markets once you’ve established profitability. For the founder with more resources at their disposal, this advice helps crashing and burning through potentially 10s or hundreds of millions. For a bootstrapped founder or similar, this advice seems helpful because trying to initially solve a problem or address a market that’s broad may lead to inaction or a lack of momentum.
Just testing out the paywall below. Still figuring things out, but below/behind the paywall are 4 resources and the StratupAI idea. It’s a one time pay what you want feature (as long as it’s equal to or over $1), which we might experiment with for different content types in the future. That doesn’t mean we’ll necessarily always paywall the normal stuff we’ve shared in the past like we’re doing now for this test.
