Revisiting the idea of Scribes

In a January edition of this newsletter, I presented an idea related to AI scribes, in part inspired from Avi Schiffmann and his product Tab/Friend, and Daniel Kahneman’s idea of using observers to spot biases.

“We suggest that observers can be trained to spot, in real time, the diagnostic signs that one or several similar biases are affecting someone else’s decisions or recommendations” … “To be effective, decision observers need some training and tools. One such tool is a checklist of the biases they are attempting to detect.”- Kahneman

Today Olivia Moore, AI partner at a16z, wrote on X, “New @a16z investment thesis: AI scribes. Imagine if you had a superhuman assistant that listened to your conversations, took perfect notes, and flagged follow-ups.”

Here is the accompanying market map Olivia posted:

Evidently, the number of startups in this space is significant already. General medical appears to be the largest. Still, there may be niches that are addressable.

Olivia ends by saying, “If you're building an AI voice scribe, reach out! We've already made investments here and are planning to make many more in the coming months.”

StratupAI Generated Idea - Pet Care Services Marketplace

“Many people struggle with finding reliable and affordable pet care services when they need to travel or work long hours. A marketplace platform that connects pet owners with vetted and experienced pet sitters, walkers, and boarding facilities could address this pain point. Pet owners can browse through profiles, read reviews, and book services based on their pet's needs and their own preferences. The platform can offer services such as pet sitting, dog walking, grooming, and even veterinary consultations. Pet care providers benefit from increased visibility and access to a larger customer base, while pet owners have peace of mind knowing their furry friends are in good hands. This marketplace model not only facilitates convenient booking and payment processes but also fosters trust and a sense of community within the pet care industry.”
