"The way to get startup ideas is not to try to think of startup ideas. It's to look for problems, preferably problems you have yourself."

Related to this idea is thinking how or what advances in technology/science may make previously difficult to solve, or unsolvable problems you face, now solveable.

In the University of Pennsylvania online entrepreneurship course, they share a) what interview questions are good for and b) how to ask good questions.

They say interviews are bad for determining pricing or “making assumptions about demand”, but good for gauging sentiment for current conditions like “what people love and hate about existing products”, etc.

In terms of asking good questions, they split it into three stages.

First, ask a big open ended question, like “the biggest issue associated with [your problem]?".

Second, “how are they dealing with the problem now, and what solutions have been tried in the past?”.

For the third stage, they state to introduce your solution, and get the interviewee to ask questions about it.

Warehouse operations require efficient inventory management and order fulfillment processes to meet the growing demand for e-commerce logistics. A robotics startup could develop autonomous picking and packing robots that work alongside warehouse staff to optimize order processing. These robots would be equipped with AI-driven algorithms to navigate warehouse shelves, identify and pick items with precision, and pack orders for shipment. By integrating with existing warehouse management systems, these robots can streamline operations, increase accuracy, and reduce fulfillment times. This solution would help warehouses improve productivity, reduce labor costs, and meet the demands of the fast-paced e-commerce market.
